Just listening to a CD of the local jazz band headed up by Alan Fraser. Yes this little Cotswold town is a music hot bed and has something happening all the time.
I thought the one thing that does not go on here is a life drawing night with life jazz.
So I made up a poster for this imagined event.

As has been seen from some other post here, I am playing with the poster. What has brought me to work with this is the poster from the Bauhaus and other mid-century modern design.

This is from a shoot with Leah Axl. I rented a studio I felt was to small and to white for anything else than high key,
I put in just one light on the back wall griding though a cookie and using a blue gel creating a small box with a blue glow.
I playing with the space, for some reason I felt the need to add another layer of space using some words.

This is work from the Rosamund the Fair project. I call the project Rosamund still Dances, with a subset called Faces of Rosamund.
It's a picture story about a mistress of King Henry II, with the wonderful and talented model Ella Rose is helping me tell the story.

Xainafairy from Motown to Slab City

This was a shoot with Xaina in 29 Palms, California. I've given this set of images its name because Xaina is from Detroit, and because Slab City is the most "beat" place in this very beat of places. (Well, I can't deny Detroit its own share of beatitude.)

A place described by an old Airstream, faded broken trucks, and a far-away look in the eye; by the Bagdad Cafe or a Sam Shepard play; by Gram Parsons' departure.

Watching Salome Dance is the title of my new header image which is part of my Light Dances project.

When I put this set of images together it suggested a story; an ancient tale, told my many– notably by a man known for walking his pet lobster along Oxford's High Street while a student, Oscar Wilde. Thus the name Watching Salome Dance. I hope to do more on this theme.

The collaborator in this piece is Heidi Gaines (MM#152446) whom I wish to thank for a wonderfully creative half-day.

Cafe Conversations

Madame Bink and I spent a some time together in a London garret studio and worked with a little experimental and improvisational theater. We did three sets of one act improvisations, this post being the first shown.

This is the beginning of a body of work I will be doing featuring the Thonet #14 chair, and this part of it is called Cafe Conversations. It is on going and more conversations well be taking place.

I choose to work with the "Thonet 14" to celebrate its 150th birthday. It is a Victorian piece of furniture that was Modernist in concept. Meaning it was some 75 years ahead of its time.

It represents Cafe Culture, and all the ideas, conversations, trysts, and treatises that have occurred in there presence.

So it becomes the perfect partner for these artist/preformers to create a dialogue with. More to come of this project in the future.
